Short Description
The subject of Site Engineering is offered as a vocational subject within the Master’s degree programme in Teacher Training Course for Technical Education for Single-subject Bachelor's Graduates (LBS-Sprint). In addition, students must study a second subject, which is a teaching subject. Students also acquire skills in the didactics of the vocational specialisation in Site Engineering, which they require as the necessary foundations for working as a teacher at a vocational school.
This encompasses the analysis, design and evaluation of teaching and learning processes in site engineering vocational education and includes practical placements in vocational schools offering construction engineering courses. Based on the analysis of work processes and the specialist knowledge required for them, the development of school curricula and the design of teaching sequences in vocational schools form a central component of the subject-specific didactics programme.
Course Content
- Subject-specific teaching methodology for the vocational specialism of site engineering
- Vocational pedagogy
- Teaching Subject
The Site Engineering programme comprises three or five modules. The following modules are intended for students who have not yet studied subject-specific didactics or vocational pedagogy as part of their Bachelor’s degree:
- Subject Didactics 2: Methods of vocational training and research in the construction industry
- Subject Didactics 4: Lesson planning, preparation and delivery, as well as evaluation in vocational education in construction engineering
- Master’s thesis
The requirements for two further modules are as follows:
- Subject Didactics 1: Institutions and organisation of vocational education in the construction sector
- Subject Didactics 3: Media didactics and digitalisation in vocational education in the construction sector
By the time of registration for the Master’s thesis, evidence must be provided of 52 weeks of work experience or relevant vocational training. This may be completed during the course of study or prior to commencing the programme. No later than two semesters after the start of the programme, evidence must be provided of at least 12 weeks of this 52-week work experience.
In addition to enjoying working with people, prospective students should have a broad interest in the various areas of work within the site engineering profession.
Successful completion of the consecutive Master’s degree programme in Teaching at Vocational Schools is a prerequisite for entering the pre-service training (teaching internship) at vocational schools. Outside the teaching profession, career opportunities in the field of vocational education are available at companies, textbook publishers, chambers of commerce and professional associations. A PhD programme enables further qualification in the academic field.
