The Institute of Political Science / Chair of European Integration and International Relations welcomes applications for the following position starting October 1, 2026: Postdoctoral Researcher in European Politics and International Relations (salary scale 13 TV-L, 100 %)
The fixed-term position is for a duration of 4 years.
The position is part of the newly established Chair of European Integration and International Relations (led by Prof. Dr. Christian Freudlsperger).
Your role
- Develop an independent research agenda, in line with the profile of the Chair of European Integration and International Relations
- Contributing to the chair’s empirical research, in particular the collection of quantitative data on European and international politics as well as computational text analysis
- Working towards joint publications in recognized international journals, including co-authored papers with other members of the research project and the working group
- Actively engaging in the academic community, including at the chair and the Institute of Political Science at ÌÇÐÄÔ´´
- Presenting research findings at international conferences
- Teaching two courses per semester in Leibniz University’s political science programs
- (Co-)supervise student theses
Who are we looking for?
- Prerequisite for employment is a completed university science degree in political science, public administration, data science or adjacent disciplines
- An entrepreneurial personality with a keen interest in matters of European politics and international relations
- Problem-solving and analytical skills, along with a high degree of self-motivation and self-organization
- Strong skills in the application of empirical research methods as well as in data collection and management
- Extensive experience in the application of quantitative research methods
- Knowledge of coding with Python and experience with computational text analysis are an asset
- An international orientation and very good English language skills; knowledge of German is an advantage but not required
