Information on Academic Leave of Absence
- Students who want to take a leave of absence must have a specific reason. One reason may be e.g. Illness, but also a semester abroad or a pregnancy or other personal reasons.
- In order to to be granted a leave of absence, you must submit an application during the re-registration period (at the latest on the last day of the general lecture period.
- In exceptional cases, a leave of absence is also possible up to one month after the beginning of the semester (If the last day falls on a weekend, the following working day counts). For further information, please contact the Admissions Office.
- The application must be accompanied by proof of your justification (medical certificate, copy of the maternity record, etc.).
- Leave of absence semesters are counted as university semesters but not as subject-related semesters.
- Please use the leave of absence form ("Beurlaubungsbogen" - German Language only) for the application and submit this application at Admissions Office in the ServiceCenter.
