Further information on part-time study
The student is not entitled to BAföG (Federal Law on Support for Education and Training) funding during the part-time study period.
The application for part-time study is only valid for one semester.
- The part-time study has no legal entitlement to the provision of special teaching sessions or courses, i.e. you are responsible for the organisation / coordination of your degree. We urgently recommend that you consult people in the respective faculty and draw up your own study plan.
- A parallel or double-major study is not possible if you study part-time.
- Based on an application, students can be enrolled for part-time study if the responsible faculty board has established that the selected degree is suitable as a part-time course.
- The deadlines for applications for part-time study is the reregistration date for enrolled students and the beginning of the semester for new students.
- As stated in the Lower Saxony University and College Act (NHG), only a maximum of half the credits stated in the examination regulations may be attained during the part-time study period. This is either established by the faculty or by the examination office by checking the examinations for which you can register. This is particularly relevant for programmes with mandatory credit points per semester.
- Part-time study is not allowed during the semester in which the thesis is completed (see § 11 of the enrolment regulations - German Language only).
- Per two semesters part-time study your study credit balance rises by only one semester. This can have an influence on your duty to pay long-term tuition fees.
